I needed something with a controlled temperature and a very fine tip - that is definitely not my old Radio Shack iron with a cruddy tip. This unit comes with an assortment of tips and a replacement heater coil. I used the fine tips for my project - soldering went so smoothly. It was a joy. After the project was built, I took the knife blade shaped tip and used it to cut holes in a plastic case. This is a fine product that is extremely versatile and will last a long time.
