This tool makes expanding the PEX to slip over the connectors a breeze! I can only imagine how much better this is than the hand-operated tools. We did 22 connections in a little over an hour, and that included cutting existing lines to install tees. It's so easy: you just use the tool to expand the end of the pipe, slip it on the fitting, and give it 10 to 20 seconds to shrink. Not a single leak anywhere when we repressurized the system. I put pipe adapters on the ends of future expansion stubs so I could transition to copper, but now I'm going to use PEX. It's a whole lot easier than sweating copper or gluing plastic. Delivery was faster than expected. However, when I received the machine and turned it ON, I was seriously disappointed with its performance. The course (36 grit) wheel mounted on the right had a very bad wobble to it. Visually, it looked like 1/8", but a close measurement showed it to be little under 1/16" total side to side, enough to vibrate the machine and the bench it was sitting on. I thought about shipping everything back, but then looked at a possible $28.89 shipping charge, and decided to see if I could fix it myself. I removed both wheels and moved the wobbly right-hand (course) wheel to the left hand side. It made no difference in the wobble, so I figured it wasn't the mounting hardware itself. I experimented with a few layers of black electrical tape shimmed on the inside of the wheel under the mounting washer and found that four layers of tape removed the wobble almost entirely. The Proxxon is very quiet compared to the Dremel which is screaming loud at high RPM. The Proxxon appears to be extremely rigidly built unlike the Dremel. It weights about a pound and has about the dimensions of the 300 Series Dremel. You can change the speed from 5k to 20k RPM and the motor is wave controlled to maintain its speed under load - unlike the Dremel which slows down under load. It comes with a set of drills and milling bits as well as cutting wheels. I also bought the drill stand MB 140/S and vice MS 4. The bits appear to be well priced. Buying cheap Bostitch MCN-150 StrapShot Metal Connector Nailer Love It!By TomI had been using an N88RH-2MCN for my metal connector work. As you know, the 2MCN is a standard framing nailer with a locator tip. While it works fine, it's big and heavy and doesn't always fit between joists and in tight places. The MCN150 solves that problem. It's small & light comparable to a 15ga nailer, almost half the weight of the 2MCN and it fits into tight spaces more easily. The MCN150 does not use a locator tip, but rather uses the exposed nail tip to guide you into the hole. I've had it now for about 3 months and ran several thousand nails through it without incident. I would highly recomend this tool if you do frequent metal connector work. Just remember that all metal connectors do not call for 1 1/2" nails. For longer nails, you need another gun. It's side handle is angled just right so it's comforatble to use. Its quieter than the others I've used too. In fact it's not really any louder that a lot of 41/2" grinders I've used. It came with a 7" disk and has the capability and more than enough power to handle a 9" as well. It doesn't have a detachable cord and I prefer that. In fact it doesn't have any frills, ie detachable cord, adjustable handle etc. It has what I need the most, power as well as comfort! It does however, come with a guard for a 9" disk and a wrench and associated hardware to handle sanding discs as well. I haven't used the trigger lock yet but the trigger is easy enough to hold down I don't know why a person would need to use it. It has a flat ground VG-10 blade that will take and hold a razor edge. The handle is durable and shaped well.The only problem I see with it is that the blade measures 4 5/16". Here in New York City, a knife blade must be under 4" for the knife to be street legal. There are quite a few other locales with similar regulations. However, I do have experience with the Panasonic 15.6v drill that has been arguably the best drill out there. I would easily put this up against the Panasonic anytime. Sure the Milwaukee is brand new and the Panasonic has been around for years so we'll see what the China-made Milwaukee will do long term. That said, it's lighter, shorter and more powerful than the Panasonic. Not by much, but it is. Even the charge time of the battery is quicker! I've always been a fan of Milwaukee's cases so there's another bonus over the Pany. The previous reviewer complained about the placement of the forward/reverse switch but I don't agree. In my opinion, it's located just fine and very similarly to other cordless drills I've used (Craftsman, Panasonic and Porter Cable). If you're a homeowner and looking for a weekend project cordless drill, this may be too much for you, especially considering the cost.
